I am a hothouse flower that can’t survive outside a minimal range of climates. I am not a happy camper if the temperature drops below 60 degrees or rises above 75 degrees. Spring in Japan is iconic and my favorite time to visit. I promise pictures don’t do it justice. In April, Kyoto is full of main character energy. Cherry blossoms blush in full bloom, ancient temples glisten under pink petals, and couples wander hand-in-hand through dreamy gardens. It’s like walking through a watercolor painting…better because there’s sushi.

I fell in love for the first time when I was 15 with a Parisien named Louis; I’m a sucker for a guy with a cute accent, which is why I married a Brit. While my infatuation with the boy burned bright for two weeks, my adoration for The City of Light has never waned. Paris is downright flirtatious in the Spring—think riverside picnics with fresh baguettes and strawberries, quiet kisses beneath flowering chestnut trees, and terrace cafés filled with soft jazz and sweet rosé. Très romantique!

The entire city smells like flowers and fresh beginnings. Rent bikes, kiss on bridges, and cruise the canals at golden hour. It’s giving Wes Anderson, in the best way.
