Carrie Underwood is one of my favorite American Idol contestants ever! The voice of an angel. Also, she manages to put out one incredible song after another. Carrie has found everlasting love with a hockey player, Mike Fisher. Currently, they are expecting their second baby. After their wedding in 2010, Carrie and Mike chose to honeymoon in stunning Tahiti. Specifically, they honeymooned at Le Taha'a Island Resort & Spa. You don't have to be a multi-platinum selling artist to honeymoon in French Polynesia! You can honeymoon like a star at Le Taha'a Resort.
Overview of the Resort
Le Taha'a Resort isn't actually on the island of Taha'a, confusing, right! It lies on the secluded private island of Motu Tautau. It faces the fragrant Taha'a island on one side and Bora Bora on the other. You are close enough to smell the vanilla wafting over from the island of Taha'a. But, still far enough away to escape the crowds. Inspired by Polynesian architecture and style, the resort is a true South Pacific hideaway. Considering that all of Tahiti is a romantic hideaway, Le Taha'a Resort is a special little place.
Arrival
This coral-sand island is a five-minute boat ride away from the Island of Taha'a or a quick private plane trip from Bora Bora. You will receive the royal treatment from the second you step on the island--they give you a crown (of the floral variety) and rum punch when you arrive. After check-in, your guide escorts you to your bungalow. Walk by the lagoon with its crystal-clear waters and beautiful colors on the way. Then you will step into your new home away from home.
Suites at Le Taha’a Resort & Spa
Suspended above the lagoon, you will find 45 overwater bungalows feature a wrap-around deck with steps down to the crystal-clear waters. Perhaps you don't want to be over the bay? Then, you should choose one of the 12 Beach Villas. The beach villas are a private enclave on a private island! Dip your toes in your sparkling plunge pool within the walled tropical garden that comes standard with the beach Villas. Other than the person that delivers your meals, you don't have to see anyone else the entire time you are in Tahiti!
Tips for bungalows:
You can get overwater bungalows with either a view of Bora Bora or the Island of Taha'a. The Taha'a view rooms face the jetty, so you will see boats come in all the time.
Best view: Sunset Overwater Bungalow
Privacy: End of Pontoon Overwater Bungalow

Dining at Le Taha'a Resort & Spa
Le Taha'a is committed to using local resources. The builders constructed the resort with 90% island materials. They have adapted its menus to reflect this commitment; they don't want to contribute to CO2 emissions by importing meat. The Chef makes imaginative use of the vegetables, fruit, fish, and pork found in abundance on the island. They make sure to purchase minimum sizes of fish, langoustines, and crabs, so the resort never has more than they need. But, food waste is unthinkable: vegetable waste goes into the compost, and the rest goes to a pig farmer in exchange for ten piglets a year.
Restaurants: Le Vanille:
Run by chef Thomas Larme; this is the main restaurant at the resort. It also offers cooking classes.
L'Ohiri:
It is the resort's gourmet restaurant, and it serves a creative French-Polynesian Fusion Cuisine. It also has an extensive wine cellar.
La Plage:
Dine al fresco at this beachfront restaurant that is open for lunch.
If you want to up the romance factor, have a private dinner on the island. Enjoy a romantic evening under the starlit sky. A local dance troupe will greet you with the sound of the typical Polynesian welcome, and songs from the islands. Sip champagne as drums, songs and dances transport you to ancient Tahiti. Enjoy a sumptuous 3-course dinner to the sounds of a ukelele.
Adventures at Le Taha'a Resort & Spa
There is so much to see and do when you are at Le Taha'a Resort. Therefore, you will never be bored. It is truly a lush garden paradise! Do you want to swim with sharks? You can do that! How about tennis, volleyball, wave runners? Check.
