All-Inclusive resorts have been around for decades and are getting more popular every year. One of the most famous all-inclusive adult-only brands is Secrets. Even if you are not a resort lover, you have probably heard of Secrets; they are everywhere. But with 21 different Secrets resorts, how are you to know which is the best fit for you? Don't worry; I am here to help. All 21 are prevalent romantic destinations, and each has a unique set of strengths and weaknesses. I am going to shed light on what makes each resort different. Here is your essential guide to every Secrets resort; Part 2 highlights all of the hotels in the brand outside of Mexico.
Wild Orchid lies on a peninsula with a mile-long stretch of shore in Montego Bay, one of Montego Bay's best beaches. This retreat takes its inspiration from the island's bright surroundings.
Jessie's Wild Orchid Tip: the standout room category is the Preferred Club Swim-Out. They are large and airy and highly romantic.
Secrets St James is next door to Wild Orchid, and guests of one resort will have access to both facilities. Also, preferred club guests will have the ability to party at nearby Breathless. St James isn't as modern as Wild Orchid, and it feels a little stuffy to me. That's a personal opinion.
Cons for both: The resorts are quite popular, so they are always long lines for dining. And the best pools are reserved for preferred club guests only. Even though the hotels are in Montego Bay, they are far from restaurants, bars, and attractions.
Residing in the tranquil village of Paguera, Mallorca, Secrets Mallorca Villamil Resort & Spa is reminiscent of a castle; it offers a refined adult escape. Mallorca Villamil perches above the Mediterranean Sea, ensuring your view will be stunning! The staff is very attentive, and it provides some of the best restaurants in the Secrets brand.
Cons: The pool is small for a resort of Mallorca Villamil's size. Also, they allow smoking in certain rooms, and the smell can be overwhelming for nonsmokers. So make sure you request a nonsmoking room if you need one.
Discover the Pura Vida at Secrets Papagayo. Tucked away on the peaceful Papagayo peninsula, this resort is ideal for adventurous couples seeking exploration and romance. The resort itself is enormous, but it never feels overwhelming, and there are lots of cozy nooks perfect for stealing some alone time.
Jessie's Papagayo Tip: Upgrade to the Preferred Club Honeymoon Suite with Hot Tub and Balcony. The balcony is expansive and overlooks the ocean. It provides the best views of any room in the resort.
Cons: The beach is small and can get crowded. And the resort is remote. There is nothing to do in the immediate area.
Ideally situated in the upscale gated community of Cap Cana, Secrets Cap Cana brings the highest level of service to the exquisite Juanillo Beach. The resort is secluded, fresh, and modern. It also provides a lot of variety in room categories.
Cons: The restaurants rarely vary their menus, and the food isn't a standout resort feature.
Secrets Lanzarote in Spain
Secrets Lanzarote Resort & Spa conveys a calm adult getaway to the stunning Puerto Calero Marina of the Canary Islands. Lanzarote offers an inviting escape to guests seeking panoramic views of the deep blue Atlantic. It descends the mountainside in terraces to the beach; each deck has its draws and a pool.
Jessie's Lanzarote Tip: Upgrade to the Prefered Club Suite Swim Out. It provides gorgeous views and lots of privacy.
Cons: Other than the news, you won't find English channels on the TV, and the air conditioning isn't as effective as you would want it to be in the summer.
Royal Beach covers over 700 yards of a palm-lined perfect white sand beach, and this resort is renowned for its gorgeous beach and calm waters. Guests will cherish their romantic, contemporary suites and will find vivid colors all around the resort's dramatic hideaways. Royal Beach is one resort where you will find plenty of beaches and pool seating.
Cons: Wi-fi is an extra charge at Royal Beach, and it is next door to a family-friendly resort so that you might encounter children and noise.
European culture meshes with a genuine Caribbean flair as romance beams throughout the resort. Guests can spend their days at one of the largest infinity pools in the Caribbean or sunning themselves by the clear waters of the secluded, peaceful cove in Anse Marcel Bay.
Jessie's Secrets St Martin Tip: If you want a sea view, you need to book a room in the marina building.
Cons: Even though the beach is lovely, it is small, and there isn't as much to do on the French side of St Martin as there is on the Dutch side.
In an idyllic untamed setting, Secrets Bahia Real in Fuerteventura is a contemporary resort haven providing guests with unusual and memorable experiences. Spaces open onto the cerulean blue of the Atlantic Ocean, intended couples with discerning tastes. Bahia Real is sophisticated and offers pristine views.
Jessie's Bahia Real Tip: Upgrade to the Master Sea Views for magnificent views.
Cons: The all-inclusive plan isn't standard; it's an upgrade. But well worth the price to upgrade at booking because food and drink at the resort are expensive. Also, the beach can be rocky; you definitely will want to wear shoes.
